What's New At Sunnyside Meats...

2/23/11

It's been a while since we have updated here.  My appologies, but we have very busy for the past few months.  Lots going on here at the plant.  We are finally slowing down.

Just recently I discovered a great year long event going on around the country (based in NY) called Charcutapalooza.  It is a gathering of meat lovers and meat crafters challenging themselves to find the goodness in curing and otherwise preserving you meats at home.  Check out the details here:

Recently, Prescott College visited Sunnyside Meats.  The students of the Agroecology class took an in depth look at how meat processing can play a vital role in the functionality of our regional food systems.  If a tour of this nature sounds like something you would like to do, be it with a class, group, or on your own, give us a call!

Sunnyside Meats is gearing up for Oktoberfest 2010!  This year will be the best ever with our offerings of a traditional German style bratwurst, as well as a limited edition brat.  This one-time-only Oktoberfest Beer Brat will be a collaborative effort joining Sunnyside Meats with Durango's Bootleggers Society.

Sunnyside Meats has released some great new products over the spring.  Check out our Bloody Mary Bratwurst made with Freshies all natural cocktail mix!

Also, Sunnyside has been exploring many exciting beef cuts that are becoming very popular - such as the Delmonico Steak, the Petite Chuck Tender, and the Flat Iron Filet.  These beef steaks are great products that cannot be found in many stores in our area.

Check them out at Sunnyside Farms Market in Nature's Oasis, or if you're having an order processed with us, just ask!

Recently, Animal Welfare Approved, an arm of the Animal Welfare Institute, visited Sunnyside Meats to assess our harvest program.  AWA is a nonprofit, third party certifier of farms and slaughterhouses.  AWA will certify a farm and their slaughterhouse in order to assure the consumer that meat bearing AWA's logo has been raised and harvested by the strictest animal welfare standards.  Please write Chris, or call the plant to learn more about meat that has been Animal Welfare Approved!
